The story behind limited release Husk Stout Cask ACR
Just 10 minutes up the road from us in the Tweed Valley, set on an old avocado farm is Earth Beer Company. These guys make great beer (and they’re great guys too!).
About a year ago, Quentin reached out to Zeke from Earth Beer Company to discuss an idea he had: barrel-ageing Husk Rum in ex-stout barrels. Thus began an incredible collaboration. Quentin secured some of our Husk Rum barrels, loaded them onto the truck, and drove up the hill to Earth Beer Company.
They aged a stout in our barrels for a few months, and once they were done, they sent the barrels back to us. We filled them with some delicious 2020 harvest HuskACR and let them mature.
When we dumped the barrels, they were incredible. The stout barrel cask finish provided a depth of flavour and rich colour to the rum. Stout is a very flavourful, punchy, and rich beer, which imparted notes of mocha and milk chocolate into the rum, making it exceptionally full-flavoured.
It’s the perfect thing to wrap your hands around this winter.
