Husk Porter Cask ACR Released with Stone & Wood

A Toast to National Rum Day: Husk's Limited-Edition Porter Cask ACR is Almost Here!

G'day, mates! Grab your glasses, and prepare to wet your whistle with something extra special. We’re chuffed to bits here at Husk Rum to share the deets about our latest rum masterpiece: Husk Porter Cask ACR. This exclusive drop has been finished in ex-Porter barrels from our mates at Stone & Wood Brewing Co. It's a celebration of craftsmanship, local collabs, and a fair dinkum nod to the beauty of the Tweed Valley.

If you caught wind of our last beer cask finish rum, you know the drill. It was a sell-out in a week flat, so no mucking about this time, cobbers! This release is just as rare—only 931 bottles exist—and it’s launching on National Rum Day, 16 August, as part of the Husk Rum Harvest Fest.

A Bit of Brew Love from Stone & Wood

Here’s how this beaut of a rum came to be. Stone & Wood, legends of the craft brewing world, create a traditional porter called Stone Beer. They use hot stones to caramelise the sugars in the wort, giving their beer a unique depth and complexity. We saw a golden opportunity there, like seeing a snag at a barbie with your name on it. Those porter barrels? Perfect for finishing our rum!

Why We’re Chuffed About This One

This ripper of a rum is all about local pride. It’s made from 100% single estate cane juice, aged in Aussie wine barrels, and then given the royal treatment in Stone & Wood’s ex-Porter barrels. The result? A rum that's like a liquid symphony of caramel, roasted malt, and dark chocolate. You’ll get toffee, vanilla, and a cheeky hint of smokiness dancing on your palate. Talk about a winter warmer!

As our Head Distiller, Quentin Brival, puts it: “Finishing our rum in Stone & Wood’s porter barrels has been an extraordinary journey. The stone beer technique adds a layer of complexity and richness to our rum, creating a truly unique and exceptional spirit.”

And here’s what Vaughan, the Head Brewer at Stone & Wood, has to say: “It just made sense to collaborate with Husk on this release, as they are only 15 minutes from our Murwillumbah brewery. Our Stone Beer porter, with its traditional brewing process, has imparted deep caramel and roasted malt notes to the rum, resulting in a wonderfully balanced and flavourful spirit.”

Where to Get Your Hands on It

Now, here’s the important part. This limited-edition rum is available online and from the Husk Distillers’ cellar door. You can also find it at selected independent bottle shops. But don’t dilly-dally, folks; with only 931 bottles, this beauty is gonna disappear quicker than a coldie on a hot day.

Celebrate With Us on National Rum Day

We’re kicking off the release with a ticketed launch event on National Rum Day. Join our Founder, Paul Messenger, and our main man, Quentin Brival, for a Tasting Club on Friday evening, 16 August. You’ll get to taste Husk Porter ACR alongside some other rare Husk rums, and we might even tap a barrel for a cheeky sample straight from the source. How’s that for a top-notch evening? We’ll finish up with a campfire supper of damper, savoury mince, and smores. Tickets are $59 and available at huskdistillers.com/husk-rum-harvest-fest-2024.

So, grab a ticket, grab a mate, and come celebrate the spirit of the Tweed Valley with us!
